Vitiligo


Vitiligo is a skin disease that causes depigmentation. The main causes of the disease are the absence of melanocytes cells in the skin.  Vitiligo disease symptoms include appearance of white patches on skin areas. Usually the first patch is observed on those skin areas that are mostly exposed to sun rays. Graying of hairs coloration of premature hair change in color is also a symptom of vitiligo. Other symptoms includes affected retina of eyes and mucous membrane.

The disease is observed in both male & female with no age and race limitation. The disease can be appeared in any age but mostly people after the age of 40 get involve in it. The causes of vitiligo are many, saying one chief cause is impossible. It can be appear due to dietary deficiency, taking excessive amount of anti biotics, heredity, sun exposure, vaccinations, immune system disorder etc.

Whatever the cause is? The main problem is always linked up with the absence or loss of pigment cells from the skin. Our skin is consisting on special cells known as melanocytes. Melanocytes are the parent cells that producing melanin cells. Melanin cells further are producing pigment cells that detect skin coloration. Role of melanin is not only producing pigment cells but also act as sunscreen to give skin cells & tissues protection from ultra violet rays of sun.

The disease symptom appearance of white patches is some times limited on some specific skin areas but some times they cover whole body areas. Vitiligo is classified in following types.

Segmental:

In segmental type of vitiligo white patches are mostly appeared on those skin areas that are linked up with dorsal roots from the spine.

Non Segmental:

In non segmental type of vitiligo white patches are spreading on all body areas over the time. Classes of non segmental vitiligo include:

Focal vitiligo: Appearance of white milkfish patches on few scattered areas of the body.
Acrofascial Vitiligo: Appearance of white patches on acro parts of the body such as face, hands, fingers, arms, legs, and feet.
Mucosal Vitiligo: Depigmentation only in mucous membrane of the skin.
Universal Vitiligo: Naturally depigmentation covers whole body areas.

Vitiligo cure:

The disease vitiligo is incurable. So many remedies can reproduce melanin cells in the skin but they can’t help patient to return their natural coloration.
